Telephony firm Tellumat Communication Solutions has put pen to paper on a distribution arrangement with Canada-based Phybridge, the VoIP client premises equipment manufacturer. The deal will see Tellumat make Phybridge’s entire range of products available to its resellers in South Africa. This includes PoLRE (Power over Long Reach Ethernet), its VoIP infrastructure switch.

Ekinops, an Israel-based supplier and designer of next-gen optical equipment, along with its partner, Rotal Networks, has provided telecommunications company Bezeq with Ekinops 360, its high-end optical transport platform. It is thought that Bezeq will use the product’s optical performance to increase the capacity of its fibre network.

Leading software and hardware components provider Sangoma Technologies Corporation, which enables IP communication systems for data and voice, announced last week that it has selected Comlink Networks to be a Master Reseller for its Lync Express product line. Comlink Networks, which specialises in SIP trunking, is the first company to receive the title as part of Sangoma’s new program.

Independent researchers, in the assessment of 12 UC/IPT market vendors, pointed out the strong dedication that Aastra has shown in commercial communications, as well as its UC/IPT solutions portfolio.

Sprint, the mobile operator, has made SIP trunking available to a wider territory, and will now cover 12 countries in Europe. SIP trunking is a business VoIP that enables a company to replace pricey physical trunks which connect a PBX (private branch exchange) to a virtual trunk network, employing just one IP connection.

All of South Wales Police’s call handling has been consolidated to just one lone Public Service Centre, in order to handle both emergency and non-emergency calls. Thanks to IP telephony, the centre is among the first to carry out such consolidation and already has made savings on internal charges on the entire South Wales Police voice estate.
