Leading software and hardware components provider Sangoma Technologies Corporation, which enables IP communication systems for data and voice, announced last week that it has selected Comlink Networks to be a Master Reseller for its Lync Express product line. Comlink Networks, which specialises in SIP trunking, is the first company to receive the title as part of Sangoma’s new program.

This comes after the group’s Vendor Landscape research into the unified communications and IP telephony markets. Independent researchers, in the assessment of 12 UC/IPT market vendors, pointed out the strong dedication that Aastra has shown in commercial communications, as well as its UC/IPT solutions portfolio.

Sprint, the mobile operator, has made SIP trunking available to a wider territory, and will now cover 12 countries in Europe. The firm’s goal is to fulfil the needs and wants of businesses with multiple branches. SIP trunking is a business VoIP that enables a company to replace pricey physical trunks which connect a PBX (private branch exchange) to a virtual trunk network, employing just one IP connection.

All of South Wales Police’s call handling has been consolidated to just one lone Public Service Centre, in order to handle both emergency and non-emergency calls. Thanks to IP telephony, the centre is among the first to carry out such consolidation and already has made savings on internal charges on the entire South Wales Police voice estate.

BMI has signed a deal with Avaya which will see the airline installing the telecommunications supplier’s IP telephony system. Two of Avaya’s IP Office 500 systems have been deployed by BMI, along with SIP trunking, Avaya Flare for touch screen unified communications, and 150 IP handsets. BMI has joined its two primary sites, one in Aberdeen and another at Donington Hall, with its new system.

Suddenlink has been signed by Sigma Systems as its latest large MSO client for the firm’s voice and data provisioning system for businesses. The two companies made a joint announcement in which they revealed Suddenlink has now deployed an enhanced version of Fulfillment System from Signma, which allows a cable operator to automate activation of data and voice services.

Unified communications platform provider ShoreTel, which counts applications UC solutions and commercial phone systems among its services, is continuing to increase its market share of the U.S. IP telephony industry, according to the latest figures from the Synergy Research Group. The Group’s summary of market share report for 2013’s first quarter found that the firm secured the highest rates of revenue growth.
