Unified communications platform provider ShoreTel, which counts applications UC solutions and commercial phone systems among its services, is continuing to increase its market share of the U.S. IP telephony industry, according to the latest figures from the Synergy Research Group.

The Group’s summary of market share report for 2013’s first quarter found that the firm secured the highest rates of revenue growth, as well as the sequential share of the market, for Enterprise IP telephony. It beat out competition in the form of Mitel Networks, Cisco Systems and Avaya Inc. Furthermore, ShoreTel increased its share of the market in Unified Communications as a Service Private Network sector, continuing to sit at the top of the pile.

Synergy’s data, which is based on company revenue, shows that ShoreTel is ranking third in the U.S share of the Enterprise IP Telephony market, with a seven per cent increase in revenue over figures from the last quarter. The firm’s market share stood at 6.4 per cent at the end of last year but rose to an impressive eight per cent in the first three months of this year.

ShoreTel’s CEO, Peter Blackmore, spoke about the news, saying:

“ShoreTel continues to gain in market share over our largest competitors who have experienced declining sales. By offering customers ultimate choice and flexibility in both on-premise and cloud solutions, we continue to win business. With investments in customer satisfaction programs, hybrid infrastructure, as well as our strong partner ecosystem, we expect to see continued long-term growth.”

Synergy also revealed that the company has improved its leading position in the U.S. market in the UCaaS Private Network segment, for services that are most commonly aimed at larger businesses. The first quarter saw the share increase to 34 per cent.
