There are 2 methods of transferring calls using the Snom 300 handsets – they are Blind Transfer and Attended Transfer. The choice of method depends on the level of control you would like to keep over the transfer process. This level of control is generally linked to how sure you are about the availability of the person you wish to transfer the call to.

Well we have finally made it live. We’ve been working on this for the past few months and now its up and running. The new Packnet website is a more focused, more polished website with a real message about our VoIP product Metis and covering our Open Source Software Development side of the business.

Packnet have been developing our Hosted IP Telephony Solution for the past year. In this time we haven’t given the platform a name. That has now changed and we can say that ‘Metis’ has been launched. Why have we waited until now?

We’ve been around for a few years at Packnet but we’re probably not the best know company in Manchester………yet. So we’ve joined up with the excellent people at Business Consort in Wilmslow as gold members to get to meet more people and to raise our profile.

So this is the first post of 2009, and gives us an opportunity to talk about what we are up to in the first month of the new year. The Packnet VoIP portal is progressing and new functionality is due to come online at the end of January.

We had some reports recently that Google Webmaster Tools was reporting DNS issues with sitemaps and the ability to read you sitemap.xml or sitemap.gz.xml files. Upon investigation of this we couldn’t really find any good reason for this going on. We did find a link in the google webmaster help section which showed that the problem was not local and was happening all over.

With Alistair Darling’s pre-budget report (PBR) due out at some point today one of the most expected changes is the reduction in VAT from 17.5% to 15%. Whilst this is one of a range of matters put forward by the government to stimulate the countries economic growth, in practise how will this effect systems which companies have had in place and working practises.
