A new survey carried out among resellers of business phone systems in the US has acknowledged business VoIP (voice over internet protocol) as being among the key forces behind the major changes they expect to see regarding the scope of their future activities.
The survey, carried out by research organisation ATLANTIC-ACM, found that 72% of those resellers questioned believed there to be an evolutionary trend towards total business VoIP penetration.

A new study from the US has identified business VoIP (voice over internet protocol) as the main service currently being exploited via unified communications (UC) technologies.
The study, by the respected media commentary and advice firm TechTarget, found that UC – whereby communications from different sources are able to be received at a common convenient reception point – is most frequently utilised in the form of business VoIP by 63.2% of IT professionals surveyed.

A regional emergency medical centre in the U.S. has revealed the benefits of its recent decision to install a major internet protocol (IP) telephony facility.
Shippensburg Area Emergency Medical Services (SAEMS) says that although outlay on its state of the art combined IT, IP telephony and business VoIP (voice over internet protocol) installation – which it shares along with the Vigilant Hose Company – cost in the region of $7m, it now enjoys lower monthly phone costs as a result.

A key hospital in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, has announced the implementation of a brand new, sophisticated internet protocol (IP telephony) system covering its entire site.
The hospital – the Specialised Medical Centre Hospital (SMCH) – employs nearly 2,000 staff, including doctors, paramedics and support personnel. The SMCH also has capacity for more than 450 overnight stay patients, together with extensive outpatient facilities.

Australia’s National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), has announced that it intends replacing its out-of-date telephone exchange with a state of the art internet protocol (IP) telephony system.
The NHMRC says the new system is needed to properly service the various communication needs of its 220 Melbourne-based staff, together with the additional 25 staff at its Canberra-based office.

Wiltshire College has revealed that, since having replaced its business phone network with a single system based on internet protocol (IP) telephony and business VoIP (voice over internet protocol), it is on course to secure annual savings on its phone costs of £70,000.
The new IP telephony system is understood to link more than 1,000 phone extensions over the college’s four campuses and is capable of handling around 15,000 calls each week.
