SIP Trunking

Packnet offers SIP Trunking to companies wishing to take advantage of the cost saving associated with SIP, but do not want to loose the control and functionality offered by their already in place PBX system.

What is SIP Trunking

Unlike standard telephony, where physical wiring is used to deliver calls between two points, a SIP Trunk gives a company the ability to replace standard fixed PSTN lines but have all the functionality of PSTN connectivity over the internet.

SIP Trunking offers a smart way of making signifigant cost savings by not having to install and implement local expensive solutions such as PSTN gateways, ISDN BRI’s (Basic rate interfaces) or PRI’s (Primary Rate Interfaces).

In order to take advantage of SIP Trunking you need to have a SIP supported current PBX.

For those who dont have a SIP enabled PBX Packnet can offer a device which can sit between your PBX and the internet making the usage of SIP Trunking straight forward. One of our engineers will install the device on site for you and advise on its usage.

Alternately if you do have a IP PBX then Packnet will advise on the setup to take advantage of the SIP Trunk we provide for you.
